Sunday, March 29th, 2020Paralysis in a young Pekingese
Sunday, March 29th, 2020This sweet pup had sudden onset of pain and paralysis in both hind limbs. She could not stand without help and could only be walked with her hindquarters in a sling. The most likely diagnosis given her breed and presentation was intervertebral disk disease. The owner could not afford the recommended surgery and was looking for another treatment option. This little one received cold laser, dry needle acupuncture and electroacupuncture on her first visit. She was sent home with a Chinese herbal formula as well. Second visit was four days later.
Her first visit; unable to walk. Paralysis in both hind legs. Tail is limp. Her second treatment. She is looking brighter and more comfortable. Still her second visit. Luna is walking! Exploring the office… Standing foursquare and stable; still with a slight hump in her back and moving a little unsteadily on the corners, but staying upright.
